Ahead of election, 25,000 detained in Ahmedabad, Surat

There is still a fortnight to go for the first phase of voting for the assembly poll in Gujarat, but the police have already made more than 25,000 preventive arrests in Ahmedabad and Surat alone. The arrests were being made on the state election commission's orders to instil a sense of safety among voters and organise free and fair polls in Gujarat.
