Decked in gold, Kedarnath gets 30 armed guards

First came the gold, then the guards. Six weeks after a TOI report said the Kedarnath shrine, freshly wreathed in over 40 kg of gold - in leaf and sheet - would be left unattended during the winter months when most of the people in the town journey to other places, authorities have deployed an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) team comprising 30 personnel to mount a vigil around the temple. The security team arrived at Kedarnath on Monday and started duty from Tuesday.
